Marinus Rosbergen became a partner in October 1999. He works as a 3/4 time partner (6 sessions per week), spending the rest of his time chasing after his children. Marinus qualified in The Netherlands, and went on to train as a GP in Stafford (Staffordshire).

Marinus is married and has two children, Falko (born in 1999) and Femke (born in 2002). A member of the Dutch National Team for middle distance running in 1989/90, when he can tear himself away from his children and DIY, he loves to be out on his bike.

Kathryn joined the practice in 2005 having qualified as a GP in 2002. Though born in the wilds of Northumberland, she has adopted East Anglia as her permanent home, having come to study in Cambridge and then completed her general practice training in Norwich.  During this time she met and married James, who is now also a partner at Theatre Royal Surgery.
 
Kathryn works half time at TRS since she and James now have three children who require lots of time, energy and a constant taxi service in opposite directions!   To relax, Kathryn enjoys needlework, and her various projects progress more quickly in the evening during Top Gear or Match of the Day. She plays the piano and clarinet, and hopes to have more time to practice these in the next few years. 

Medically, Kathryn does not claim any special areas of expertise, having been attracted to general practice for its infinite variety. She hopes to thrive on this in Dereham for many years to come.

In 2010 Kathryn agreed to sit on the NHS Norfolk Women's & Sexual Health Programme Board, representing the views of southern Norfolk practice based commissioning consortia.

Dr. Penart works 6 sessions per week as a partner in the practice and a further one day each week in the Dermatology Department at the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital. His specialist interests are dermatology and pharmacology and he is a member of the mid Norfolk locality of South Norfolk CCG and represents the locality on the CCG Board. Antonio is married to Fay (a nurse) and they have two children - Fenella and baby Alejandro who was born in July 2010.

Klaus Koch graduated from the University of Heidelberg, Germany in 1994 and has worked in Barcelona, London, Sheffield and Cambridge (GP training) but found the arrival of children Tim (1998) and Nikolas (1999) meant finally settling down.  His wife, Hella Simper, is a part-time GP and GP tutor at the UEA in Norwich.  As a family they enjoy the historic sites of East Anglia as well as its coast. They enjoy music and play various instruments and are keen on sports, including sailing, tennis and skiing.

Klaus  is currently an honorary Senior Lecturer to the UEA medical school where he teaches  communication skills and also students of Year1 in our practice.  He joined the Theatre Royal Surgery in April 2006, having worked with us since October 2005 as a regular GP locum.  He also works for the out of hours service.

Rachel Kinnaird qualified from Birmingham University in 1997 and did her General Practice training in Norfolk.  She joined the practice in 2002 and became a partner in 2006. She works five sessions per week in the practice. With a particular interest in family planning and women's medicine, Rachel is able to fit contraceptive implants and can also fit and remove IUCD's (coils).

Rachel is the practice lead for Palliative Care and organises the practice training days. She teaches medical students at the UEA on one of the days she is not in the practice.

Married to Tim, they have two children and outside of work her time is taken with her family, the garden and keeping chickens.

James joined the practice in September 2008 for six sessions each week, following his wife Kathryn, who was already a partner here.  He has an interest in teaching and currently tutors a group of ten third year medical students from the UEA Medical School, who visit the practice every Tuesday during term time.  Read more about our training activities by clicking on the menu (right).  James also has an interest in eye problems and works on a Thursday at the Eye Department of the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital - in Eye Casualty in the morning and a Glaucoma Clinic in the afternoon.  He provides regular clinical sessions locally for the prison service.

James was been instrumental in working with the Dereham Health Consortium and the NNUH Eye Department to set up a practice based commissioning service for patients with stable glaucoma but at present we are not certain whether the service will go ahead.

James enjoys a busy home life with three young children and a very supportive wife.  His hobbies include rowing, football and ornithology.

Clinical Team Leader

Cath Crosland is our Clinical Lead Nurse and as such supervises the work of the treatment room team, is actively involved in producing protocols for the way in which we carry out our clinical work and still manages to fulfill her specialist nurse role.  Cath has a particular interest in the care of heart disease and diabetic patients as well as an active role in family planning and teenage sexual health.

Lynnette is one of our full time specialist nurses.  She returned to work in February 2011 after a period of maternity leave after the birth of her baby daughter.

Linda completed her training and qualified as an RGN in 1985 and went on to work in various acute hospitals as a Staff Nurse.  After having a break from nursing whilst her children were young, she completed the "Return to Practice" course in 2006 and went on to be appointed a full-time practice nurse at TRS, having successfully completed her nursing exams whilst working for us as a phlebotomist.

Mandy joined the practice in February 2012 and works alongside Tracey to provide healthcare assistant services as well as a wide range of blood-taking (phlebotomy) duties. 

Practice Manager

Val is our full-time Practice Manager and has overall responsibility for the non-clinical aspects of our practice. Her work is particularly centred upon the surgery finances and our strategic planning which includes setting up new services, corporate image, contracts, tenders, wholesaling and practice based commissioning.  In 2010/11 Val was the surgery liaison for the building of the extension and was instrumental in setting up the lease and installation of the new pharmacy on site. In 1992 she won a national Practice Manager of the Year Award and we were pleased in 2011 to present her with a gift to recognise her thirty years at TRS - twenty seven of which have been as our practice manager.

She has a teenage son, Leo, and as well as running her web and graphics design business, her hobbies include music, films, reading, walking, travel, art and crafts.

Assistant Practice Manager

Trudy, one of our most experienced and long-serving staff, was our full-time, lead receptionist, but in March 2012 was promoted to Assistant Practice Manager. 

Married, with two adult children, Trudy has lived in Dereham for many years.  Her hobbies include walking and caring for their two whippets, Whisper and Lola.

Administrator - Registrations

Mary is our part-time administrator whose main duty is responsibility for new patient registration.  As patients join the surgery, Mary receives their medical records and sets up their details on our clinical system.  When they leave, Mary prints off details of their records and assembles their folders ready for onward transmission to their next practice.  You may occasionally find her working in reception.

Receptionist & Audit Administrator

Becky has particular responsibility for organising our recalls, statistics and running clinical reports as well as working in reception.  Having joined the practice in 1993, Becky is one of our most experienced staff and we're very pleased that she decided to return to work part-time after the birth of her son, Oliver.

Personal Assistant to Practice Manager

Nicky works part-time as Personal Assistant to Val.  A substantial part of her job involves administering the surgery purchasing and stock control - everything from stationery to cleaning materials and clinical equipment. Nicky works very closely with Val and Tracey on the surgery financial organisation, inputting supplier invoices and other data onto our accounts software.

Finance Assistant & Receptionist

Tracey works one day per week with Val and Nicky as part of our surgery finance team. She is responsible for reconciling the bank account, producing sales invoices, chasing any outstanding payments and co-ordinating our year end paperwork. In addition she is currently learning how to run our payroll system and work involved in administering the NHS superannuation scheme for our practice.

The other side to Tracey's role is working as a receptionist one day each week as well as responsibility for setting up all appointment rotas and administering certain clinic recalls by either telephoning or writing to patients.

Receptionist Team Leader & Cervical Cytology Administrator

Steph. has worked with us since 2004 and is one of our more experienced receptionists.  She was promoted to Reception Team Leader in March 2012.  Steph. is also trained in clinical summarising and works with the clinical team as our Cervical Cytology Administrator.

Emma originally joined us to take care of the administrative work of a member of staff away on maternity leave.  She quickly took on a varied portfolio of duties including scanning incoming documents into the clinical records, post and filing.  Having completed extensive training throughout the latter half of 2010, we're pleased to say that Emma is now on our permanent staff as one of our reception team.

Receptionist

Tracey joined the practice in 2011 from the retail sector.  Although still learning from our more experienced receptionists, Tracey has been keen to  take on responsibility for a number of extra duties such as monitoring our DNA (Did Not Attend) statistics.

Kimberley joined the practice in October 2011 to cover the maternity leave of Claire Hudson.  She is proving to be a great asset to our team and is making good progress learning about general practice.  We are pleased to say that Kimberley has joined our team as a permanent member of staff from August 2012.

PA & Medical Secretary

Diane is our longest serving secretary, having previously worked in the banking industry.  Along Jackie, she is responsible not only for typing referrals and administering the choose and book system, but for liaising with patients, the hospitals and GPs, co-ordinating reports and monitoring incoming results requiring action.

Medical Secretary, Scanning & Student Administrator

Kim joined the practice in November 2012.  Her role will be split between providing support to our two PA/Medical Secretaries - Diane and Jackie, assisting Martyn with the daily scanning of incoming mail into clinical records and working with Drs. Koch and Green providing general support and administration for the medical student teaching.  Kim tells us that she will enjoy the variety that her new job offers and we wish her every success!

PCT Prescribing Advisor

Employed by NHS Norfolk, one of their prescribing advisors regularly works at our practice, reviewing our prescribing habits and offering advice where necessary.  Patients may sometimes be invited to appointments with them so that the advisor can discuss their medication and offer assistance as required.

Anne was  born in Hong Kong and moved to UK at the tender age of 17 years.  She is married and has two children, which is what prompted me to go into midwifery.  Anne says that she  found the whole experience life changing - as do all expectant mothers and fathers!  However, she was not able to pursue this ambition until later in life.  Anne was a 'mature' student, qualifying in 2009, having completed a year's Access Course and then  three years midwifery training.  Having spent time both in the hospital maternity unit as well as in the community, Anne feels that she has found her vocation.  She is very passionate about what she does and values the relationship that midwives build with their clients.  She is now furthering her studies focussing on mental issues surrounding pregnancy, childbirth and the postnatal period.  Anne has clinics at Theatre Royal Surgery on Monday and Wednesday mornings.

Sarah is the Community (District) Nurse attached to our practice.  She (or one of her colleagues) calls in at the practice every working day to collect messages and/or discuss cases with the clinical team.

Patients wishing to contact our attached Community Nurse can do so by calling the surgery and leaving a message with our Reception Team.

Baby Immunisation Clinic The clinic is held at the surgery on Monday afternoon 12.30 p.m. to 2.00 p.m.

The Health Visiting Team are based at Dereham Hospital, Northgate, East Dereham. NR19 2EX.  Their direct telephone line is 01362 654 906.

Elizabeth Stallwood is one of the Macmillan Nurse attached to our practice.  As well as coming into the surgery to meet with GPs as and when necessary, Elizabeth attends our regular staff training days when the whole team reviews patients on our palliative care list.  This helps all our team be aware of the needs of those patients and their families and when or where special assistance may be needed.  Elizabeth works alongside her fellow Macmillan Nurses, Dorothy Simpson and David Neave.

Caretaker & Maintenance Team

Nigel is our full-time caretaker.  A qualified carpenter and joiner, he turns his hand to a variety of skills in the practice from snow clearing to gardening, carpentry, painting and decorating.  When one of our cleaners is away, Nigel stands in and assists either Carol or Pam with the daily chores too.
