NHS Services

The practice offers a wide range of  basic and enhanced NHS clinical services.  These include:-

• Asthma clinics and monitoring
• Cardio Vascular Disease (CVD) assessment
• Sexual Health Services (inlcuding contraceptive services, IUCD (coil) fitting, checks and removals, Implanon insertion)
• Cervical Screening
• Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) screening
• Diabetes clinics and monitoring (including diabetic retinopathy)
• Flu vaccination clinics
• Pneumovax vaccinations
• Travel health and vaccination appointments
• Minor surgery (including joint injections, incision and excision procedures, cautery etc.)
• Phlebotomy (including anticoagulation monitoring and near patient testing)
• Baby and pre-school immunisation clinics
• Ante-natal and post-natal services (our midwifery service is temporarily based at Dereham Hospital)
• Minor injury services
• On-site eye screening (two of our partners are GP opthalmic specialists
• Alcohol services
• Drug dependancy monitoring

 

 

Test Results

Please call between 11am and 3.30pm to enquire about your test results as our reception staff will have more time to deal with your request between these times.

Note that the practice has a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection and we will only release test results to the person to whom they relate unless that person has given prior permission for the release of this data or they are not capable of understanding the results.

When you take your test you will be told how long it will be before the results are returned to the practice.

It is your responsibility to check your results and to make an appointment to discuss them with your doctor if your are advised to do so.

Our Healthcare Assistant Services

Our experienced team of Health Care Assistants offer a comprehensive range of services including:-

• phlebotomy (blood taking)
• basic dressings
• ear syringing
• new patient checks
• blood pressure monitoring
• assisting with Baby Clinics
• assisting with Minor Surgery Clinics

 

Phlebotomy

Urgent blood tests

We offer a limited phlebotomy service within the practice.

Patients who require urgent blood tests on the instruction of their G.P. and those who need blood tests because they are on Warfarin or specialised blood therapy monitoring will have an appropriate appointment arranged and will take priority. 

Non-Urgent blood tests

Patients who require non-urgent tests of blood requested by hospital clinics may have to choose either to wait for the next available appointment with our phlebotomist or have their blood taken at hospital in Norwich. Please ask at reception for details.

 

 

Health Visiting Team

The Health Visiting Team are based at Dereham Hospital, Northgate, East Dereham. NR19 2EX.  Direct Telephone 01362 654 906.

Patients from our surgery can attend ANY of the following Health Visitor Baby Clinics:

Dereham Children's Centre, London Road	2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month.	10.00 a.m. to 11.30 a.m.
Toftwood Village Hall, Shipdham Road	1st and 3rd Thursday of each month.	1.30 p.m. to 3.00 p.m.
Elmham Surgery	1st Wednesday of each month.	2.30 p.m. to 3.30 p.m.
Shipdham Surgery	Last Thursday of each month.	2.00 p.m. to 3.00 p.m.
Mattishall Parish Rooms	3rd Tuesday of each month.	11.00 a.m.  to 12 noon.

 Assessment Clinic

Our Assessment Clinic ensures that patients who decide at the start of the day that they need to see a clinician urgently can do so easily and quickly.

This clinic is not suitable for routine medical consultations that can be planned ahead.

You are unlikely to have to wait more than half an hour to be seen unless the clinic is full or the clinician is called out, or if patients before you have complex problems.

We cannot guarantee which clinician (doctor or nurse) you will see.  You must check with the reception team to confirm the time that you need to arrive as the clinic times are subject to change at short notice.  Thank you.

Non NHS Services

We are pleased to offer a range of non NHS Services, including:-

• Medical Examinations and reports
• Certificates (various)
• Pre Employment medicals and reports
• DNA Testing
• Bone Marrow compatibility testing
• HGV & PSV medical examinations
• Private prescriptions
• Travel documentation (various)

There is a fee payable for all of the above and some will be subject to payment of VAT at the current rate.  Payment in full by cheque or postal order is required before the document is released.  Patients settling by cheque must ensure that they have a valid cheque guarantee card to present at the time of payment.
